MEDICA is the institutional repository and digital archives of the Medical University of South Carolina. MEDICA was created to provide access to current research of MUSC faculty and students, as well as the historical archival collections held at MUSC's Waring Historical Library and University Archives.
MEDICA's collections include articles written by MUSC faculty, theses and dissertations written by MUSC students, and historical photographs and documents relating to the history of the health sciences. Finding aids for archival collections at the Waring Historical Library and University Archives are another component of the digital collections.
MEDICA is made possible through a collaboration with the College of Charleston. The digital collections of MEDICA, the College of Charleston, the Charleston County Public Library, and several other local institutions form the Lowcountry Digital Library. The Lowcountry Digital Library is a member of the South Carolina Digital Library initiative sponsored by PASCAL. MEDICA is powered by OCLC's Content dm software.
MEDICA follows the metadata guidelines established by the South Carolina Digital Library. Technical specifications regarding scanning, file naming, and other related issues are based on established best practices.
Special thanks are owed to many individuals, departments, and organizations for their work on MEDICA:
